Esistono persone con poteri straordinari: possono leggere nel pensiero, prevedere il futuro, muovere oggetti e persino uccidere semplicemente con la propria mente. L’esercito americano gli sta dando la caccia per farne dei super-soldati, proprio come nella leggenda che voleva i nazisti come creatori di questa razza. Ma alcuni di essi si ribellano e fuggono in varie parti del mondo, tra cui Nick (Evans) e la giovane Cassie (Fanning) che si nascondono ad Hong Kong e decidono di unire i propri poteri permetter fine a questa caccia.
Dopo il successo di Slevin – Patto criminale, Paul McGuigan porta in sala questo fanta-thriller dirigendo un serie di attori interessanti quali Chris Evans, Dakota Fanning e Camilla Belle.
